Practical enhancements to the Magnanti-Wong method
نویسنده
چکیده
The Magnanti–Wong method – accelerating Benders decomposition – is shown to exhibit difficulties due to its dependence on the subproblem; an independent version is therefore introduced. The method additionally requires a – sometimes intractable – master problem core point; for several applications it is proved and experimentally verified that alternative points may be used. c © 2008 Elsevier B.V. An intersecting tree model for odd-diameter-constrained minimum spanning and Steiner trees
In a previous paper, using underlying graph theoretical properties, Gouveia and Magnanti (2003) described several network flow-based formulations for diameter-constrained tree problems. Their computational results showed that, even with several enhancements, models for situations when the tree diameter D is odd proved to be more difficult to solve than those when D is even. In this work we prov...
متن کاملA Goodness of Fit Test For Exponentiality Based on Lin-Wong Information
In this paper, we introduce a goodness of fit test for expo- nentiality based on Lin-Wong divergence measure. In order to estimate the divergence, we use a method similar to Vasicek’s method for estimat- ing the Shannon entropy. The critical values and the powers of the test are computed by Monte Carlo simulation. It is shown that the proposed test are competitive with other tests of exponentia...
متن کاملA Decomposition Algorithm for Local Access Telecommunications Network Expansion Planning
Growing demand, increasing diversity of services, and advances in transmission and switching technologies are prompting telecommunication companies to rapidly expand and modernize their networks. This paper develops and tests a decomposition methodology to generate cost-effective expansion plans, with performance guarantees, for one major component of the network hierarchy-the local access netw...
متن کاملCorrelation of Viscosity of Aqueous Solutions of Alkanolamine Mixtures Based on the Eyring's Theory and Wong-Sandler Mixing Rule
A viscosity model, based on Eyring’s absolute rate theory combined with a cubic PR equation of state and Wong-Sandler mixing rule, has been proposed in order to correlate viscosities of aqueous solutions of alkanolamine mixtures at atmospheric pressure and different temperatures. In the proposed method, the energy and size parameters in studied Equation of State (EoS) have been obtained usi...
